Textbook as a Digital Learning System: Redesigning Interactions


Abstract

Having as a starting point the relationship of interaction design in educational printed objects, the main areas from which this research will be based are education, interaction and sustainability. Textbooks are mandatory objects in classrooms, being their main purpose to transmit learning content. Subjected to change, considering curricular goals, production of these objects requires the use and expenditure of multiple resources, among these, natural ones.

With the growth of study support tools in digital media, it is relevant that textbooks are adapted, considering current target audiences. Not only should the learning media be adjusted so that different ways of transmitting the same information are available, but, consequently, the learning process of each student can be according to his or her needs and preferences.

Through research with used artifacts and textbook users – possible users of our designed system – we expected to allow an extended lifetime of school textbooks, thus enabling it to pass from generations.
