About
<div> – Design, Interaction and Visualization research group is dedicated to study design interactions in a broad scope, from screen-based graphic interfaces to design dynamics for territories, from traditional media to innovative visualizations and hybrid accomplishments.
We intend to assess the interferences and consequences of design, interactions and visualizations, as expanding research fields, with related professional activities and educational training, contributing for knowledge to be shared with various academic and social stakeholders.
Our work tries to understand and redefine the limits of design, through processes where information, technology, science and creative practice are closely related. We follow an exploratory, descriptive, but also practice-based research perspective.
Goals
Promote research related to interaction design, information visualization and mediated communication.
Generate knowledge and outcomes about mediated interactions and complex visual communication through analytical, descriptive and practice-based methods.
Foster design and interaction as research areas critically concerned with social and emerging issues and that can speculate and engage in developing alternative futures.
Contribute to the advancement of these areas in academia, relating to design degrees, escort but also involving and supporting new communities of practice.
Expand the understanding of design and interaction, in its foundations, processes, intersections, materializations and consequences.
Include and support network projects through cooperation with scientific researchers and institutions.
