Sensing in-vivo: human-nature interaction through ubiquitous and embodied technologies

Abstract

The accumulation of human activities on the planet has caused severe impacts on nature, so that the increase in global temperature and the extinction of certain ecosystems is already an irreversible situation. Several research fronts in the field of technology, such as IoT, machine learning and biotracking come to propose new forms of knowledge in the sense of nature conservation. Moreover, authors discuss a future in which human survival will only be possible if the exploratory and the dual relationship with nature is broken. Therefore, an opportunity was identified to design an experimental wearable system in which an inter-species interaction is mediated by such emerging technologies. After reviewing the literature and developing a prototype, a video simulation of use will be created, as well as the application of a questionnaire and interviews to a diverse audience. As a result, it is expected to arouse in participants greater interest and curiosity about nature, and reflections on how interaction design can establish a sense of synergy, even if mediated by an artificial system.
