Data Visualization is often misinterpreted as a new field of knowledge. However, newspapers and magazines have used charts, diagrams, and infographics for centuries. In the last years, Journalism has faced an unprecedented crisis, which has reshaped the many ways we produce and consume news. Nevertheless, because of its versatility and efficiency in conveying information, DataViz professionals believe the field will continue to grow.

This research focuses on Data Visualization in News Media, both as a discipline and a job. We aim to identify its limits and constraints through practice-based research and design a project that fills those knowledge gaps. As Data Visualization itself, this project will be multidisciplinary and multi-platform, and it will thrive on creative exploration, literacy, and technological dexterity.
