Cristina Santos
Phd in Design
Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja with a bachelor’s degree in Product Design (2001), a master’s degree in Graphic Design (2010), and a Ph.D. in Design (in Information Design, 2019), from the Lisbon School of Architecture – University of Lisbon.
She worked as product and graphic designer for several companies (2001-2007) and design consulting between 2007 and 2011. She is currently the coordinator of the Sound and Image short-cycle degree and a member of the Scientific Technical and Pedagogical Commission of Audiovisual and Multimedia Bachelor’s degree at the Polytechnic Institute of Beja. She has lectured since 2007 in the areas of communication design, information design, museography, visual culture, motion graphics, 3D modeling, and multimedia.
She is a member of CIAUD – Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design at Lisbon School of Architecture, University of Lisbon and her research focuses on information design (its principles and several applications), graphic design and heritage communication, illustration as a visual communication resource, and museography. She is also interested in design for interactions and motion graphics applied mainly to information visualization.
She supervises several curricular internships in audiovisual and multimedia and frequently publishes articles on her areas of interest. She is often linked to projects that require practice-based research within the area of communication design and that involve direct contact with business and organizations.
